Saints Row The Third Coming To Nintendo Switch
Just when you thought that the Nintendo Switch couldn’t get another crazy announcement, Gamescom came around and had Deep Silver announce that Saints Row The Third, the critically and financial hit from the late Volition and THQ would be coming to the system. This announcement literally came out of nowhere, and it’s unclear how this even came to be, but it is coming, and that’s pretty freaking awesome, because seriously, this game is great. I would know…I worked on it.
If you don’t recall, Saints Row The Third was…well…the third game in the franchise. But, it’s what set the franchise apart from Grand Theft Auto. It’s no secret that when Volition made the original Saints Row that they were copying GTA, but just putting a different spin on it. And when Saints Row II came out, it was a bit more of the same. But with the third game? They took it all to a whole new level.
For this game took the Saints (the gang you play as) out of their town of Stillwater and put them in the fictional town of Steeleport, which is run by a gang known as The Syndicate. After losing a friend, and losing some of their empire, they’re determined to take everything the Syndicate has. But in doing so, they prompt a government response via the STAG Initiative, and they have to fight off both sides to both survive, and get what they want.
The gameplay of Saints Row The Third mixes a shooter with melee and vehicle combat (and driving) in a way that’s over the top and completely special. And that’s not to mention all the side quests, missions, and lore that is thrown in to make this a title that was can’t miss before, and will definitely be can’t miss now on Switch.
No release date yet, but it’s only a matter of time.
