While the Dragon Ball franchise might be most associated with its anime and manga, its played quite a role in video games, especially in the last few years. In fact, FighterZ was one of the most anticipated games of this year moments after being revealed in 2017, and its sales backed it up. What’s more Xenoverse 2 proved that the 3D fighting game style is still very profitable, as it did well on all systems it was on. But, that does raise the question, what’s next for the franchise video game wise?
Well, that’s where things get interesting. For a leaker, who has been accurate when it comes to Dragon Ball, claims that a second season of fighters will be coming to FighterZ. As noted on Shoryuken, the first season is set to be fully released by July according to them, and after that, characters like Master Roshi, Raditz, Zarbon, Videl, Gogeta, and more will arrive. Again, just a rumor, but it fits what FighterZ has done in regards to the diverse roster.
But wait! There’s more. There’s been a lot of rumors as to what the next Dragon Ball game itself would be. Rumors were that Xenoverse 3 would be next given the success of the previous title. However, the leaker has stated that instead, an action-RPG title would be coming, and this one would focus on the original Dragon Ball series, meaning the one where Goku was a kid and learning martial arts.
It would be an interesting twist to be sure, as such a title hasn’t been done yet in the franchise, let alone one that involved the original series (as Dragon Ball Z is what blew up in America). Now, whether this actually holds up or not remains to be seen. However, should it be real, it would be an interesting experience whenever it arrives.

I’m down for a new Xenoverse (or DB) RPG game, I found Xenoverse 2 disappointing because it was just a rehash of the first, but if they are doing something different with the story then that’s good news, I don’t want another rehash.
