Bigben and Eko Software have released a new developers diary which will showcase how the team behind RUGBY 18 has been bringing all the aspects needed to bring what is described as ‘real’ rugby into video game form. The game is currently set for release on October 27th on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
In a bid to stay true to the sport and the trademark characteristics, the developers behind the game have had to overcome a series of obstacles to make sure that the game phases as smoothly as possible to bring a realistic rendition of the popular sport. For example, player movements have been recreated using motion capture technology on real life rugby players, with each player’s stats being represented individually using real match data.
If you’d like to check out the developer diary, which has been entitled “Recreating the depth of rugby”, you can do so in the video below. Hopefully, this will be a real rendition of the sport, which has proved to be a difficult task so far in gaming. Whilst the adaptation to other sports has been a lot more successful, the transition from the rugby field to the video game screen has been a difficult job.
RUGBY 18 will be available from October 27th on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
