The Autumn update for the soccer-car mash up Rocket League will be bringing a couple of significant changes. The transparent goalposts that were previously announced will be a welcome addition, and developers Psyonix has also made another interesting announcement regarding arenas.
The team behind the game has revealed that they will be dropping non-standard arenas from competitive season 6. This movement will see the standard versions of Wasteland and Starbase ARC arenas being rolled out, with the old versions, now known as Badlands and ARCtagon, will be only playable on private matches and offline.
Psyonix stated: “While we still value the variety that non-Standard Arenas brought to the map rotation, we no longer think the benefits outweighs the downsides they bring. We apologize to those who will be disappointed with this change but, ultimately, we have to act in what we think are the best interests of the game and the community at large.”
If you’ve yet to try out the hugely popular indie sensation that is Rocket League, then pick it up on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A Nintendo Switch version is also planned for release in the holiday season later this year, coming with it’s own exclusive content.
