Robot Entertainment, The Developers of Orcs Must Die! Unchained, Reduces In Size
It’s always sad to see people getting fired, as it’s never easy to find a stable job in the world, especially in the video game industry where one misstep can cause the death of a studio. Robot Entertainment, the guys that made the Orcs Must Die! games just lost 30 people due to shifts in development plans.
If you haven’t heard about the Orcs Must Die! games, they are third-person tower defense games where you get to run around the place and put traps everywhere and then try to eliminate the orcs that are trying to reach the end of your little dungeon. Robot Entertainment is currently working on their latest title, Orcs Must Die! Unchained. Now they decided to work on only one project, and since their team grew a lot during the development of Orcs Must Die! Unchained, they now have too many people at hand. They stated on their blog:
Today, the company is making a strategic shift to focus on a single internal game project. Unfortunately, that means we need to resize our team to fit only one project. We’ve made the very difficult decision to let go of over 30 of our very talented and dedicated developers.
It’s sad to see that many talented people go, but you have to do what is necessary for your company to survive.
