You may think that Roblox is just a game for creating memes, but it just received $150 million from its latest Series F funding round.
While most people compare Roblox with Minecraft, they aren’t really all that similar. Roblox is more of a platform than a game, as it gives you the freedom to do anything that you want. Create a whole adventure, a map, a character, you have many options. You also have the fact that it is very popular with the kids, and any game that is popular with the kids will be successful.
Still, we are in a shock that the latest Series F funding managed to amass $150 million. That, as you can imagine, is a lot of money. A really enormous amount. This funding round was led by various Roblox investors like Greylock Partners and Tiger Global Management. Altos Ventures, Meritch Capital Partners, and Index Ventures, as we found out in a GameIndustry.biz article.
We are happy that Roblox managed to do this well with their funding. This will further help them expanding their already huge platform. But, in what way? Well, they are currently building their international endeavors, like adding more support for foreign languages and currencies. The Spanish language was added this year, so we can expect to see more in the foreseeable future. We wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors, but with this kind of funding, we’re guessing that they really don’t need luck all that much.
