One of the biggest talking points towards the end of 2016 was the rather baffling lack of sales that Titanfall 2 was faced with. Many will have considered this a flop, but in all fairness, it released in between the two biggest shooters of that particular year in Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Being sandwiched between those two massive releases was always going to have an impact, though Respawn have no intentions of slowing down as far as Titanfall content is concerned.
CEO Vince Zampella has stated in a recent interview that the new co-operative Frontier Defense mode has been a resounding success, with two or three times as many people playing the new mode over the combined multiplayer modes that were already there. After citing a rough window to launch the game or possibly the pricing as reasons as to why the game didn’t reach sales expectations, Zampella went on to reassure fans that more Titanfall was coming, and that they are determined to continue to invest in the IP: “We have our franchise creative director, who’s in charge of safeguarding the franchise in multiple formats and making sure it continues to grow. There’s some other things we’re doing that haven’t been announced just yet, but we’re heavily invested in the Titanfall universe.”
Titanfall 2 is now available on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
