Rockstar Games has been riding high the last few years because of the success of Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online, which continue to sell despite being years old. It might be easy to forget because of that that the company is known for more than just that franchise. In fact, they’re known for another top-tier franchise which is set to get a sequel this year, Red Dead Redemption. And now, Rockstar Games has let the world know that the third trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 will arrive this week.
Ironically, despite there having been two trailers beforehand, we still know precious little about the title. The second trailer told us this: “the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van Der Linde gang as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive.”
While that’s informative, it’s still not much, and the first trailer didn’t do better, it just helped set the stage for it all.
Other statements released by Rockstar Games about Red Dead Redemption 2 include teases about a new multiplayer mode:
“Developed by the creators of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland. The game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience”
The reason the first game was so impactful for many was because of its open world gameplay and its truly deep story and characters, including one of the most powerful endings in video game history. A sequel seemed inevitable, but it took its sweet time get to this point, even being delayed shortly after being announced.
