Rare had to completely overhaul Everwild and restart its development in a new direction according to some rumors.
Rare is a studio with a lot of popular franchises under its belt. They worked on Donkey Kong, Banjo-Kazooie, the Battletoads series, GoldenEye 007, and their latest title is Sea of Thieves which they are constantly updating with free content.
Their quite masterful when it comes to adventure games. And since the announcement of Everwild, a magical and absolutely stunning new IP, we’ve all been fiending for more info on the game. But, this year’s E3 presentation wasn’t the place for that. It seems Rare isn’t ready to show us the game yet. Some rumors that are circulating around could be the reason why.
VGC reports some rather sad news. Since creative director Simon Woodroffe left the project, the development of the game was completely rebooted. A new direction was chosen, and we have no way of knowing just how different the end product will end up being from the original vision.
