Ranged Characters Getting Buffed In Dark and Light
It’s quite hard to balance combat in MMORPGs, as there are so many things that you have to watch out for, as certain buffs may result in indirect nerfs. For example, if you buff a certain playstyle, it might become too powerful which then makes the opposite playstyle from that one weaker. Something similar happened in Dark and Light when the developers decided to buff the HP and melee attacks of characters.
In the last Dark and Light patch, the HP of characters and melee attacks got buffed, which in turn made characters that focus on ranged attacks weaker. Naturally, the developers noticed this right away and released another patch to make up for it by buffing ranged weapons and spells. Now let’s just hope that they don’t overbuff anything so that ranged characters end up being too powerful. Erebus, the game’s community manager, stated in the official patch notes post:
- Previous patches buffed character hp and melee attacks, which ended up indirectly nerfing ranged combat and spell casting. We want there to be more options for each Adventurer, so they can choose which combat style is right for them. In order to do this, we’ve adjusted the balance for ranged weapons and spells.
Other smaller changes were also made to the carnivorous creatures that roam around the city, as they should now spawn less often so that new players don’t get massacred right at the beginning of their journey. The movement speed and the attack frequency of the Deathstalker have also been nerfed.
