PUBG’s New Mode Caused Server Problems
If you were wondering why the newest PUBG mode called Desert Knights got removed early, it was because it caused a lot of problems with the servers. You would think that they would test a mode that allowed 50 players to play simultaneously before releasing it on the live servers, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. Maybe they released the mode so quickly because they wanted to keep up with Fortnite that’s hogging all the battle royal glory, but this backfired as you can see, as the event had to be pulled back way before it was planned to.
The Desert Knights mode put 50 players in a tiny little corner of Miramar, and ten teams made out of five people would then fight until they eliminated all of the opposition. This is a pretty straightforward mode, and it was something that the PUBG players were eager to play, but as it turns out, the servers weren’t too stable when the mode got released. On Friday afternoon, the mode was quickly pulled back because it was blocking some players from even connecting to the game. This was a huge problem, as you can’t try out the new mode if you can’t get into the game altogether.
PUBG players didn’t even get a full day to test the Desert Knights mode, but it was causing too much trouble to be left unattended. Hopefully, they test their servers more before releasing content such as this.
