Towards the end of last year, PUBG developer Bluehole spoke out to fans regarding the major issues facing the game regarding cheaters. The team apologized to those affected and vowed to bring in a number of anti-cheat measures to take the fight to those trying to ruin the fun for everyone. Fast track to today, and Bluehole are almost ready to implement such practices, which will roll out onto live servers next week.
A statement from the PUBG development team reads: “As you drop out of the airplane and the intense journey to become the last survivor begins, the last thing a player wants to see is a cheater. We deeply sympathize with the inconvenience that our players are experiencing due to cheat programs and we are doing our best to fight those who create, distribute and use cheats. Our top goal is to create an environment that facilitates smooth and unhindered enjoyment of all the aspects of PUBG.”
Bluehole however has warned that even though they are harmless, some programs will be blocked out temporarily to accommodate this new anti-cheat system. It’s also worth noting that those who do attempt to tamper around with the game’s files risk getting banned.
For a full summary of the changes coming to PUBG, check out the list below:
- In-game Report Function: The current system is being upgraded to deliver faster and more accurate reports.
- File Modification: Those who tamper with any PUBG files, be it deleting, manipulating, or modifying it could get banned.
- Account Sharing: Steam Family File Sharing will be disabled as it exposes the game to exploits
Also, the developers have revealed that they have put a dedicated team in place to handle cheaters, and will continue to make improvements and take “firm measures” against those who attempt to use cheats.
Players can expect to see these changes appearing on the servers next week. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is now available on PC and Xbox One.
