Kickstarters are the best way for some developers to get their titles made. Whether they be the simplest of puzzle games, the action of shooters, or even the scariest of titles, the crowdfunding service provides an open door for all. Take, for example, The Lighthouse. A thriller game that is also a mystery, also a dimension traveling game, and also a psychological horror title that’ll make your skin crawl. We have footage of people being scared of this game to prove it.
In this tale of mystery and intrigue, you play as private investigator James Irvine. He is on the hunt for a young lady named Lily Beaumont, who has gone missing. He’s going all-out to find her, and his journey takes him to Maine, and to the estate of the wealthiest family there. The Wescotts. But what he finds as he travels through the estate is that some things aren’t as they appear.
The atmosphere and setting are what make The Lighthouse a true thriller. As you’ll have to wander around the estate and find clues that lead you to the truth. Along the way, you’ll need to avoid obstacles, solve puzzles, and escape a mysterious presence that seems to be following you. Light is your friend, and you’ll want to keep a light on you at all times.
The team worked very hard on getting the tone and feel of The Lighthouse just right. They want a somewhat Noir tone, but one that would fit with the 1960’s motif that they were going for. Add that to the gameplay, and you have a title that is anything but simple and typical.
The team is looking for $10,000 to finish the game and distribute it. If you feel that you can handle the mysteries and thrills that are coming, then you might just want to support The Lighthouse.
