PS4 Users Are Seeing Strange Destiny 2 Advert on Dashboard

There seems to be strange goings on for PS4 players with Destiny 2. On the PlayStation 4 dashboard, a Destiny 2 icon has appeared even though they haven’t purchased the game. It can be found as the second icon in the gaming and multimedia icons, which line up across the dashboard’s home screen.

On the surface, it looks as if you have purchased the game, as if it is simply one of the games in your library. However, this isn’t a full game, or even a demo for that matter. It is simply an advertisement for the game, and by clicking on it, you’ll be prompted to purchase it. This may sound familiar to some, with the same issue happening with the original Destiny a few years back.

This is what Sony had to say on the matter: “The PS4™ system has the ability to learn about your preferences. It will learn your likes and dislikes, allowing you to discover content pre-loaded and ready to go on your console in your favorite game genres or by your favorite creators. Players also can look over game-related information shared by friends, view friends’ gameplay with ease, or obtain information about recommended content, including games, TV shows and movies.”

Destiny 2 is now available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
