Pokemon Let’s GO Confirms Mega Evolutions
When Nintendo and Game Freak first announced Pokemon Let’s GO, there was a bit of confusion among the gamer base. As they weren’t really sure what the game was. Nintendo revealed that it is a mix between the classic handheld Pokemon titles, and the Pokemon GO mobile game that took the world by storm back in 2016. That being said, there would be some unique features to it, like being able to travel with a Pokemon by your side, Co-Op gameplay, and more. And now, they’ve confirmed something new.
Pokemon Let’s GO is set in the Kanto region, the very first “country” that Pokemon fans were introduced to in Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow. As such, the Pokemon you’ll find in the game are limited to the first 151. But, they revealed that the Alola forms of Kanto Pokemon would be there as well. And now, they’ve confirmed via a trailer that Mega Evolutions of the Kanto Pokemon will be there too.
For those who don’t know, Mega Evolutions was something that came up in Generation VI of Pokemon in the X&Y titles. To Mega Evolve, a Pokemon must first be capable of the action, and they must also have a special stone that’ll allow them to Mega Evolve. It’s not a permanent evolution, it’s meant for one battle, and then they’ll revert until they use it in the next battle.
What this means is that Nintendo and Game Freak are making sure that all previous aspects of Pokemon lore and history are at least available in some supply in Pokemon Let’s GO. For example, all three of the Kanto starters have Mega Evolutions,
The trailer also showed off the legendary Vermillion City Gym and its Leader Lt. Surge, as well as new looks at Jesse and James from Team Rocket.
The game releases November 16th on Nintendo Switch.
