Pokemon GO Fest Plagued by Connection Problems
After the hype died down on a massive scale for Pokemon GO, it appeared that the game could simply fizzle out at some point. Hope was raised when it came to the first ever Pokemon GO Fest, which looked set to reinvigorate the game with a celebration fit for any trainer to enjoy.
This appears to not have been the case. After Niantic stated that the Fest would be a celebration for budding players to come together and take part in a number of events and catch some legendaries. However, many players have complained that they have not been able to connect to the game, which for several trainers has been rendered unplayable, with issues such as server connectivity, phone tower overloads and tech errors in general.
John Hanke, CEO of Niantic, attempted to address these issues as the Fest, only to be met by boos and hisses from those in attendance. Reports state that approximately 20,000 players were waiting two to three hours to get into the event, only to find that they can’t even connect to the game.
The loss of mobile data appears to be the main concern for the Fest attendees, as well as general technical problems with the servers. Many are unable to play the game at all, whilst others have been suffering from errors and slowdowns. Not the best start to the Fest, unfortunately.
