PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds For Xbox One Gets Vehicle Update
In 2017, one of the most successful games released was PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. It sold between 20-30 copies on Steam alone, then got an Xbox One port (in preview mode though) in December, which has sold 4 million copies. The game even got nominated for numerous awards, including Game of the Year by many. However, the game is still very much a “work in progress”, as players are still fighting bugs and other glitches in the gameplay. To be fair though, developer Bluehole has been working hard to fix them.
Today, a major patch for the Xbox One version of the game was released. This one took the time to fix some of the issues players had with the vehicle side of gameplay, which has been pretty broken in terms of what they can and can’t do. Says the community manager:
“We’ve listened to your feedback and further modified the damage players can inflict on vehicles, increasing areas of vulnerability.”
The vehicle changes include showing more visible damage to the body of the vehicle when it’s hit, thus making it hard to use. What’s more, the tires will get much more hurt if they’re targeted by guns. If a grenade is thrown at the vehicle, the damage will be severe when it explodes.
If you decide to try and hurt people or objects with your vehicle, you will now take damage depending on how fast and how hard you crash into them. This, in particular, has been a fan ask for a while.
Finally, if you’re hit by a vehicle, the damage you take will be slightly reduced from before.
Now, as this is a patch, there were other fixes and upgrades, including some optimization improvements, and a ton of bug fixes. Be sure to check out the full patch notes to see them.
