PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds To Get Map Selection Feature
Despite the popularity and success of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, the game does have some flaws that are continually getting worked on and worked out. What’s more, there are also some features that fans and players have been asking for to be put into the game that we don’t know if they’ll ever get in. However, Bluehole has revealed today via Steam that they’re going to be implementing a key feature that gamers have asked for. Soon, you’ll be able to choose which map you want to play on.
As noted, this news came from the Steam page for the game, where the team noted:
Map selection is something that players all over the world have continuously asked for. We take your feedback extremely seriously, but we also want to be thoughtful about how we implement changes to PUBG. And we knew that map selection posed a couple of problems we needed to seriously consider.
This is appreciated, as the last thing gamers want is a rushed in feature with a lot of bugs and issues. To that end, Bluehole discussed many of the issues that was popping up because of the idea of a map selection feature. First and foremost was matchmaking. With players now selecting which maps they want to play, it could leave a great imbalance in terms of who plays were.
However, the team have worked hard on figuring out matchmaking issues, and they believe they have a true solution to the problem so that it won’t be a problem. As for when you can expect the feature to be done:
Work on the feature is almost complete, and we plan to release it soon after implementing it on the test server.
Again, another wise move, putting it on the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds test server to work out any last bugs is smart. When it goes live on the test server, we’ll let you know.
