PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Mobile Game Beta Coming To The West?
When PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds arrived on Steam Early Access last year, it truly set the world on fire. The game allowed a hundred people to play together in a bid for glory and a chicken dinner. Naturally, gamers wanted it to spread to other systems so that it could be played by even more, and thus, it came to Xbox One. In China though, a deal was struck so that a mobile version of the game could be made and distributed there. And it’s a big success already.
So, the question became, would this version come to the West? Apparently, the answer is yes. What’s more, if you’re in Canada, you can play the beta version of the game right now. This is, by and large, a surprise move, as no previous announcement about localizing the mobile version was revealed before this, it just happened. And we think players will be grateful.
Now, for those in the US who are wanting to try it out, it appears you might have to wait a little longer, as it’s not available for beta test there…yet. It could change very quickly though, so stay tuned.
If you’re curious how this mobile version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds matches up to the PC or Xbox One version of the game, we have details on that. The mobile version apparently uses Unreal Engine 4, which means the graphics will most definitely be on part with the PC/Xbox One versions. What’s more, this will not be a “dumbed down” version of the game, it’ll still feature the classic 100-man gameplay.
You’ll also still be able to invite friends to battle with you and even do voice chat with them. It’s clear Tencent wanted to make a port instead of a “mobile version” of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
If the beta goes live in other regions, we’ll update you on it.
