PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has been smashing records ever since it launched on Early Access, and looks set to continue to do so.
With the game set to release on Xbox One sometime soon, PUBG is continuing to make its mark on Steam, already beating out the previous record for most concurrent users. This was previously held by DOTA 2, with PUBG beating it with 1,291,328 concurrent users last month.
PUBG hasn’t been derailed either by the rising popularity of Fortnite, a game of a similar nature that is proving to also be a big hit. There has also been a number of server issues that have plagued with the game, with it unable to handle the sheer amount of players that are playing the battle royale experience.
This past weekend, PUBG peaked with 1.96 million concurrent players. Its closest competition is from DOTA 2, which had a much less 716,000 concurrent users. So it is only a matter of time until PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds hits 2 million concurrent users, which is a monumental achievement.
Going forward, the game will be releasing first on Xbox One. There are talks of Microsoft extending their exclusivity deal, so there may well be a much longer wait if you’re planning on playing the game on PlayStation 4.
