Do You Play A New Video Game Before Finishing A Current One?

You’d think that the video game world wouldn’t have much struggle in it for those who play the games. But, you would be wrong. In fact, there’s a lot of struggles we go through, especially when a lot of video games comes out. For example, if we don’t have the right amount of money, we can’t buy video games. Or if a new system is coming out, we have to try and make sure we can buy it, or try to find it as the Switch has shown. But, there is an even deeper struggle here that many ignore.

What’s that you ask? Well, what happens if you’re trying to beat a game…and a brand new game you want comes out? Do you finish the current one and then get the new game? Or, do you race out and get the game on day one and promise to finish the other game when you’re done with the new one? This is the question that haunts the mind of Redditor Harvest Dew.

You might think, “that’s oddly specific”, but in 2017, there were many great games that came out on top of each other, or in close proximity, and it led to some hard choices. Heck, October 27th saw many AAA releases on multiple systems that required choices to be made. Super Mario Odyssey, Assassin’s Creed Origins, and more came out on that day.

Origins

Focusing on Nintendo for a second. In the course of about a month, no less than 5 AAA titles of sorts came to the Nintendo Switch. Fire Emblem Warriors, Super Mario Odyssey, Doom, Rocket League, and Skyrim. And yes, some bought every single game.

So, what do you do when this situation arises? Do you try and finish the current game quickly so you can try and get the new one and enjoy it? Or, does your hype for the new one override your loyalty to the “old” one and demand you get it?

This mystery of video games is entirely up to you. We would love to hear your thoughts though.
