Pete Hines Of Bethesda Talks About Future With Nintendo
One of the biggest things that helped sell the Nintendo Switch early on in its life was the promise of major 3rd party support, and it did indeed get it in both its first year and now early in its second year. But, one of the most important additions to its 3rd party roster was the arrival of Bethesda, who had not made a game for a Nintendo platform before. In the course of about a week, they released Skyrim and Doom for the system, and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is coming out sometime this year.
But, many are wondering, what’s next? Well, at PAX East, Bethesda’s Pete Hines revealed to Dualshockers that any future ports will depend on how they feel about it being on Switch:
“It’ll just depend. It’ll depend on whether or not we think the game is a good fit for the platform technically and whether we think it’s something that audience wants on Switch. In that way, it’s literally no different than any other platform that we look at or any other game that we do. If there’s stuff that folks want us to release on Switch and it’s a good fit and it works – great. If it’s new stuff going forward that we think is a good fit and will work on Switch, then we’ll do that too.”
Now, as for whether these new games can come out on the same day as other consoles, Hines said this:
“From my perspective, any time we can bring it out on the Switch at the exact same time as the other platforms for new releases, I don’t know why we wouldn’t.”
So there you go Nintendo fans, it appears that Bethesda is looking to the future with the publisher, and at E3 2018, we could potentially hear more about that future.
