Palpatine Returns To Battlefront II
Star Wars Battlefront II has had a lot going on during the last 9 months. Between its launch backlash, the controversy over Loot Boxes, its DLC content, and the revamping of the game to be basically microtransaction free, it’s been a lot. But one thing that gamers were more appreciative of was the removal of Emperor Palpatine from the game. The “Hero” character had a devastating glitch that allowed him to dominate maps he was on, so DICE removed him from the game so they could fix him.
But now, via a new patch in the game, Palpatine is back.
“Emperor Palpatine and Ewok Hunt are back!” the new patch notes said. “The issues that required us to temporarily disable both have been fixed in this patch. In addition to that we’ve deployed balancing updates to lightsaber heroes in Galactic Assault that should make them viable again. Give them a try and let us know what you think.”
Outside of Palpatine’s return and his balancing, the rest of the patch includes the following:
- Fixed an issue with Palpatine being able to lock onto targets through walls
- Ewok Hunt has been added back to the game
- Fixed an issue in Ewok Hunt where Stormtroopers were unable to board the shuttle
- Rebalanced stamina for lightsaber heroes
- Fixed an issue in Hero Starfighters on PC where players experienced a short stuttering before being locked on
- Fixed an issue with Extraction where objective markers were misplaced on Kessel and Jabba’s Palace
As we get closer to Battlefront II’s one-year anniversary, it’s going to be interesting to see what EA and DICE have in store for it. They’ve noted in the past that they want this game to be played for years, so they’ll need to continue the content for it. We’ll just have to wait and see.
