Overwatch works as a game for many reasons. It’s a fun team shooter, there’s good maps and plenty of modes to play in. You can play with friends or against the world. And, of course, there’s 26 unique characters to play as, each with their own style and substance to ensure that your get one that matches your playstyle. Plus, as is the Blizzard way, they all have unique personalities. Blizzard revealed that the 27th hero for the game is coming, and they’ve been dropping interesting teasers as to who it might be.
The first teaser was a “declassified” mission briefing from decades back that showed a mission almost going sideways, resulting in Reinhardt having to save Torbjorn from an Omnic ambush. Well, a second teaser went out yesterday, and this one detailed Tobjorn writing a letter to his wife (which was “translated”) and revealed that Reinhardt wanted to name their next daughter (after a suggestion from Torbjorn, which he meant in jest). Which got many thinking…is she the next hero?
After all, it’s been a while since she was born (Torbjorn’s wife was nearly in labor when the letter was written), and many believe that the girl, named Bridgette, was the one we met in the Reinhardt animated short called “Honor and Glory”. She had a fondness for Reinhardt, likely because he was named her godfather (as noted in the letter) and didn’t want him to return to action when Winston made the call for Overwatch to reunite.
So…could she have taken this as an opportunity to suit up in her own way and help her godfather in the fight against evil? It’s certainly possible. As many have noted, after Doomfist was brought into the game, a comic (made by Blizzard) showed off Moira, who was the next character in the game. While nothing is confirmed, these teasers do line up to suggest this to be happening.
