Overwatch’s Newest Character, Ashe, Gets Fully Detailed
At BlizzCon 2018, the team at Blizzard revealed the newest character for their beloved title Overwatch. Ashe. Ashe is the 29th character on the roster, and while she was introduced in a video featuring fan-favorite character McCree, it’s not smart to lump these two together. They play very differently, and they act very differently as well. Following her reveal, there have been many small tidbits about Ashe revealed. But now, Blizzard has not only given her an origins video, but a full profile page.
Said profile page brings to light much of her backstory, including the fact that she came from a rich family:
Born into a wealthy family, Ashe grew up surrounded by privilege. Her parents were highly sought-after business consultants and coaches for powerful CEOs around the world. Though her parents paid little attention to her (mostly leaving her in the care of the family’s omnic butler, Bob), they ensured that Ashe had every opportunity to succeed. But a chance meeting with a local ruffian, named Jesse McCree, and an impromptu string of crimes committed together opened her eyes to her true calling. The satisfaction of outwitting her targets and the thrill of getting away with it set her on the outlaw path.
Well, that explains why Bob is always at her side, and why Bob has a mustache. It’s the little things, you know?
But Ashe is much smarter than you might give her credit for, especially when it came to uniting the gangs of the Overwatch world under one code:
Ashe saw the potential to grow the influence of all. She used what she’d learned from her parents’ business to bring order to these groups. Her proposal was that the gangs could work together (or at least, not work against each other). Her principles: keep your word, don’t work with the law, respect each other’s territory, and always punish betrayal.
Ashe is in the PTR for the game right now. And most likely will be playable very soon.
