A small update has been brought into Overwatch concerning Xbox One players in particular, as Blizzard continues its battle with toxicity.
Xbox Live accounts that have been labeled with “Avoid Me” will be automatically muted by Blizzard, as opposed to being placed in separate cues. Blizzard stated in the recent patch notes: “Players whose Xbox Live reputation has been downgraded to ‘Avoid Me’ will remain in the same matchmaking pool as other Overwatch players. However, they will no longer be able to use the in-game voice communication.”
Xbox Live has a system in which players can report others, which determines that players “reputation” online. Those who have been reported several times will receive an “Avoid Me” status label branded to them, which will go towards helping Blizzard’s recent fight after implementing their own reporting system on consoles.
As Blizzard stated last week, they are continuing to attempt to crack down on the amount of toxicity online, with Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan revealing that bad players won’t find themselves in a “low priority” queue. A rather eye-watering 480,000 Overwatch accounts have been punished by Blizzard to date, with many more surely to come.
Overwatch is now available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
