Overwatch League Pro Player Suspended After Slur At Opponent
When Blizzard announced the Overwatch League, they wanted to create an esports event like no other. One where the entire world could be a part of it, towns would have their own teams, players could earn money, and fans could watch with baited breath during each match. Well, the League has been on for a little while now, and it’s certainly living up to the hype. But, as with all good things, there inevitably comes some bad, and one of the League’s players has been suspended because of it.
Felix “xQx” Lengyel of the team Dallas Fuel has been officially suspended. Felix’s team was in a match against fellow Texans the Houston Outlaws, and during a win, Outlaws member Austin “Muma” Wilmot used a phrase “rolled and smoked”, which is actually a catchphrase by Felix. Upon hearing this, he fired back at Wilmot with a very offensive gay slur. While this may not seem like a bad thing in some ways, Wilmot is openly gay, which made the insult even more impactful.
His comments, which were made visible via Twitch streaming, instantly opened a can of worms about what should happen to him. Thankfully, the Dallas Fuel leaders took immediate action:
The team will be taking disciplinary action related to recent comments made by Felix “@xQc” Lengyel. xQc will not be active for tonight’s match. Additional details forthcoming.

The suspension came soon after, and is now in effect. Needless to say, the right action was taken, as fans from all over the world were calling for Felix’s head (so to speak) after making the comment. The Overwatch League is a place of competition, sure, but it’s also meant to be a place of respect, especially among teammates and rivals.
It’s been said that Felix and Wilmot have talked since the incident and fences have been mended.
