Overwatch has been mainly subjected to controversy as of late, predominantly centered around the overhaul of certain heroes, as well as the troubling rise of toxicity in the game that has plagued the experience for many players as of late. Despite this, it also manages to showcase just how passionate the game’s community is, and with that, it has now reached new heights with hitting 35 million players.
It has been over a year-and-a-half since the Blizzard shooter released on PC, Xbox One and PS4, and has proved to be a massive hit ever since, constantly evolving the game’s roster, as well as bringing in new game modes, seasonal events, new maps and more since its inception. The official Overwatch Twitter account tweeted out the following:
What a bunch of misfits and freaks we got here—we love it!

Out of these 35 million players, it would probably be difficult to be able to tell just how many of them are legitimate players, given that there are a large number of players using alternate accounts, as well as those being included that participated in any free weekends that have taken place.
Nevertheless, it is still a very impressive achievement, and one that is richly deserved. What’s more, the game’s Halloween event is currently underway, showing that Overwatch is going from strength to strength and keeping players happy wherever possible.
