The Overwatch cross-play beta went through rigorous testing and is now live for all players, no matter the platform, to give it a try.
Cross-play is a feature most devs seem to avoid for some reason. I’m not sure why, maybe connecting console and PC players seems hard to implement and balance. The mouse and keyboard are much superior to a controller when it comes to speed and precision.
Then again, the fans adore the idea of playing with their friends. Especially those that are on another platform. However, some still won’t let PC and console players enjoy the game together or against one another. Yet Blizzard doesn’t agree with that idea. That’s why I was super excited when the Overwatch cross-play beta got announced.
And now it’s finally here. Console users just need to create a Battle.net account and link it to their Overwatch one. Then you’re able to play with everyone! Console players can turn cross-play off if they choose to. PC players, on the other hand, can’t. Strange restriction that some are already calling into question.
