Overwatch Announces Lunar Year Event: Year Of The Dog
When you have a game that updates and changes as the year changes, you tend to have a lot of seasonal events. If for no other reason than you want players to come back try out what’s new. Blizzard has always been good about bringing holidays into their titles, and Overwatch is easily the one that they do this the most with. And now, Blizzard has announced that the Lunar New Year event is coming in just a few short days. The Year Of The Dog is about to begin.
For Overwatch players who were here last year, Blizzard did something very similar with the Year Of The Rooster. They gave many characters some new skins, and a new mode for the event, and even a new map. Blizard hasn’t given many details on this outside of the teaser in the link above, but you can likely expect more of the same. With the differences being the skins that are given out and who they may (Mei?) be for.
The event will start on February 8th, so expect new details to drop very soon, the day of the event at the latest, and of course, we’ll keep you posted when it does drop.
Overwatch has been going through a lot of changes recently. First off, the game’s characters have been going through some changes, mainly Mercy as she continues to get nerfed so that she’s not the overpowered angel everyone fears to face in matches. Then, there was a recent update that brought BlizzardWorld to the game for players to enjoy.
BlizzardWorld is a map that highlights all the franchises that Blizzard has made over the years. It’s actually quite clever.
Finally, there’s Overwatch League, which is the massive esports event run by Blizzard, and viewed on Twitch, that’s going on right now.
So yeah, this year is going great for the game so far.
