There’s a late Christmas surprise for fans of the Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind it appears. Courtesy of modders ‘Remiros’ and ‘Greatness7,’ an optimization mod has been brought into the Bethesda title, which according to the modders behind the enhancement, brings in significant improvements to the game’s performance in instances such as outdoor environments and packs, as well as improved shading effects for both flora and trees.
Delving deeper into the details of the mod, it disables Alpha Blending in favor of Alpha Testing, whilst also dialling down the NiTriShapes as much as possible, therefore increasing the game’s performance.
Also, many shading errors have been fixed for the original trees in this unoffiical patch, whilst introducing additional new accurate collision meshes for the majority of the trees. It also adds custom vertex normals to both them and flora to improve on the visuals without compromising the performance of the game.
Sound good? Then you can download the Morrowind Optimization Patch right here. To install it, simply drop the contents into your data files folder and you’re good to go. Keep in mind that it will overwrite meshes that you already have installed, though.
Meanwhile, the Morrowind expansion for Elder Scrolls Online is now available.
