Octopath Traveler Continues To Sell Out In Japan
Square Enix has made some very popular games in the past, and they have numbers and franchises to prove it. But this year, they have some titles that can truly take the cake as it were. One of which just released on the Nintendo Switch, Octopath Traveler. This game is exclusive to the system, and gamers have been looking forward to it for quite some time, and that is ever so apparent with the selling out that the game is doing all over the world, but especially in Japan.
Just a day after its release, the game was sold out in Japan, prompting the team to make a tweet apologizing for the shortages and promising to make more and send them out. Well, they did, and according to one owner, they sold out within hours, which prompted this tweet in response:
“Sorry for the scarce situation. We will continue to ship the product in full order to deliver a sufficient number, but the most recent shipments are expected to become a fairly small number yet. I am very sorry to have kept you waiting.I hope you will consider the download version if you like.”
The fact that the game has essentially sold out twice in Japan confirms just how popular Octopath Traveler is. The game is doing very well in the UK and the US as well, and will very likely become not just a million seller, but one of, if not the, best-selling 3rd party game on the Nintendo Switch.
This is good news not just for the dev team, but for gamers. Because the dev team wants to make more games on the Switch, but needed Octopath Traveler to sell well in order to do so. And now it seems like it has, so the only question now is, what can we expect from them next?
