No Man’s Sky Coming To Xbox One Along With Free Update
There is a danger in hype when it comes to video games. For a game can be promoted as one thing, but then be something entirely different. When that happens, fans backlash. A very recent case of this was No Man’s Sky. A title by Hello Games, it promised to be the most expansive game in history, with a literal universe you could explore and do things in. The hype was very real. But then, the game came out, and it wasn’t what players were told.
There was a massive universe to explore, that was true. But there wasn’t much to do in it. Despite promises of multiplayer, there was none, and the complaints piled on from there. Hello Games then dedicated themselves to trying to fix what the game was, and they’ve had some success. So much so that they’re going to be releasing a new free update soon. And, they’ll be bringing the game to the Xbox One for the first time.
The Hello Games team sent out an email stating that it was the positive feedback from updates like Atlas Rising that helped the team continue going with such updates:
“Really thanks to the community, each previous update for No Man’s Sky has been more successful than the last. Atlas Rises, our most recent update, was surprisingly so. That represented a real inflection point in the legacy of No Man’s Sky. This team has never stopped running at sprint pace over the last few years, so perhaps it would have been tempting to stop after that. Surprisingly though it had the opposite effect on this team, and it emboldened us all to go further and faster.”
Now, will this new update and new system save No Man’s Sky from what it was? Likely not, but if even a few more players are brought back in, that’s a success for the team.
