No Current Plans To Bring Wolfenstein: The New Order To Switch
When the Nintendo Switch was unveiled to the world, one of the big surprises was that Bethesda was finally going to support a Nintendo console. At the time, they showed that Skyrim would be coming to the system, the first time an Elder Scrolls game has EVER been on a Nintendo platform. Then, in 2017, they brought Doom to the console, and announced that Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus would be arriving in 2018, and in fact, it’ll arrive in the next few days. But that raised a question, would Wolfenstein: The New Order come to Switch as well?
The question is not as wild as people may think that it is. Nintendo has a history of “refreshing” a franchise in certain instances so that people can “catch up”. For example, when Bayonetta 2 came to the Wii U, they bundled the original Bayonetta with it so people could play it. But will Wolfenstein get the same treatment?
Well, Gamespot reveals that they talked to the team who is porting the New Colossus to Switch, Panic Button, and their lead had this to say:
“That’s a Bethesda discussion, honestly. It’s [up to] them and Nintendo as to what would work for the platform,” Adam Creighton said. “I think it’ll be interesting to see how [The New Colossus is] received right after it launches at the end of the month and what Bethesda does from there.”
When asked about if there are definitive plans to port the game or its prequel The Old Blood to the Switch he said this:
“Not currently. Not that I know of, but Bethesda may have other plans. And we on the Panic Button side are totally up for anything.”
So at present, Wolfenstein: The New Order doesn’t appear to be coming to Switch, but, as this console has proved, nothing is out of the realm of possibility.
