Four years after its release the devs of Nier: Automata announced a Steam patch that fixes the port’s many issues.
Nier: Automata is an excellent action-RPG. Insane world-building, flashy and satisfying combat, and a tragic story. But, all that doesn’t mean much since the PC port is horrible. Constant crashes, stuttering issues, annoying mouse-and-keyboard control. Stuff that devs fix in a couple of patches, or one larger one. Yet, Nier: Automata didn’t receive the love it so desperately needed.
However, surprises still happen. This is a pleasant one even, as the devs said they were working on an upgrade patch. It’s still in the works, so we don’t know when it’s coming exactly. The sad part about this whole situation is the devs treatment of the port. They had no intention of fixing it until the Game Pass version came that didn’t have any of those issues. After the game got review bombed on Steam, a Nier: Automata Steam upgrade patch was announced.
Worst yet, the playerbase already has mods that fix these issues. A sad reality but more often than not, the communities of many games end up fixing their favorite titles while the devs do nothing. It’s standard, but an embarrassing part of the video game industry that isn’t going away anytime soon.
Both Nier: Automata and Nier Replicant are available on HRK Game for an outstanding price!
