The beta for NHL 18 has now opened up to all Xbox One and PS4 owners. Even if you haven’t pre-ordered the game, you can now gain access until August 8th, and will feature three playable modes to choose from: EA Sports Hockey League, NHL Threes and Online Versus.
The EA Sports Hockey League introduces NHL 3-on-3 overtime to the franchise, in which you can play 3-on-3 full matches, giving plenty of room to pull off big players and a canvas to showcase your creative skills. As for NHL Threes, this apparently offers the “bigger hits, faster action, bigger plays, beautiful dangles and more goals” in another 3-on-3 experience. With no icing, offsides and every penalty awarding a penalty shot, this mode sides more with the arcade side of gameplay. The beta offers both online and offline play, with a Threes Campaign set to join the full release. You can pretty much guess what Onlien Versus is all about, as its exactly what it sounds like.
Expect other features such as Creative Attack controls, Defensive Skill Stick, Creative Teammate A.I. and much more when NHL 18 launches on September 15th. The current beta will last until August 8th, so make sure to check it out whilst its still around.
