Instead of showing us some actual footage, Amazon just gave us some spooky screenshots that show more environments from New World.
Why can’t we get any form of actual gameplay of this MMO? And don’t you dare mention that very brief leak that showed a character running around the place. That certainly doesn’t count as gameplay and you know it. We aren’t angry or anything, but Amazon will lose all of the hype that New World gathered if they don’t show something that intrigues us. Show us anything that is new or exciting and out of the ordinary. Screenshots won’t help much especially when they don’t show that much substance.
If anything, these new screenshots do show things we haven’t seen before. There are tiny traces of supernatural elements, as you can see in the screenshot above. Those statues look incredibly eerie, so it begs the question, does this game have some sort of eldritch elements in it? Perhaps, as we’re seeing more of these types of video games especially those inspired by Lovecraftian books, like the new Call of Cthulhu title. While this is purely speculation, we wouldn’t be surprised if Amazon took their game in that direction.
There is much mystery around New World, and we like and hate that fact at the same time. It means that we’re excited every time something new gets announced. But it also means that we get quite mad when that something new doesn’t actually show anything of interest. It’s quite a dilemma we’re facing, but we will keep you update on the game and anything that we find out about it.
