After much anticipation, Rockstar Games has released a brand new trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2. Unlike previous trailers though, this one dives head-long into the story that will try to rivet players much like the first one did. And as the trailer shows, this game will be much different than the first one. For this isn’t about one man trying to atone for his past, but rather, a group of people trying to figure out what their future is in a world that doesn’t want them around.
Here’s a new synopsis of the game that comes from the trailer description:
After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.
The setting might just be one of the coolest parts about Red Dead Redemption 2, for it’s set in 1899, when the “Wild West” was not so wild anymore, and things like outlaws and rogue parties were being taken down to become a more civilized society. And yet, there are those who resist, like the Van Der Linde Gang.
What’s also impressive is the showing of how the gang is both a family, yet prone to the things that separate family. One is asking for faith to be had as they work out their next move, but then others aren’t so sure if they can keep going.
It’s going to be an interesting journey when Red Dead Redemption 2 arrives October 26th.
