New Mortal Kombat 11 Trailer Confirms 3 More Playable Characters
The Mortal Kombat timeline is easily one of the most confusing storylines in all of gaming depending on where you stand on it. That’s why in Mortal Kombat 9 they basically started things over from the beginning and went forward from there. But in Mortal Kombat 11, they’re taking the time travel storyline to the next level. Bringing the past of the series to meet the present and see what survives in the process. And through a brand new story trailer, more characters have been confirmed to be playable.
The first of the two are a bit obvious in Liu Kang and Kung Lao. These two have heavily been featured in previous trailers, including the reveal trailer for the game and the first official story trailer. But having them confirmed is good to know. And it’s funny to see them in their pure young forms talking about how their future (in which they die and are resurrected to serve the Netherrealm) is “insane”.
Which brings us to our third character reveal, fan-favorite character Jax. Jax is the father of Jackie Briggs, and not only is he back, he too will meet his former self. And in his quick gameplay showing, his metal arms are a major focus of his attacks.
The trailer then dissolved into a clash of past and present. Or as many say, “Old Skool vs New Skool”, including some great back and forth between the two versions of Johnny Cage. As well as some other things that longtime fans of the franchise will appreciate more than likely.
All this goes to show that the game will be packed to the brim with good content. The only character shown in the trailer that hasn’t been confirmed to be playable is Kitana. But given her prominence in the series, it’s safe to assume it’ll happen.
Mortal Kombat 11 arrives on April 23rd.
