New Head Of Sledgehammer Games Writes Letter To Players
Video game developers are in a constant state of shift. After all, some people only work during certain parts of game development, people move on, people get let go, it’s a key part of the cycle. However, when major shifts happen to major developers, people take notice. For Sledgehammer Games, the team behind Call of Duty: WWII, this happened recently when the co-founders of the studio departed to take high-ranking jobs within their publisher, Activision. The company wasn’t without a leader for long though, as an internal hiring was made on the spot.
The new head of Sledgehammer Games is Aaron Halon, who has worked within the company since its start. The hire makes perfect sense not just for that reason, but he was trained by the now former co-founders Michael Condrey and Glen Schofield. However, despite the “perfect fit”, there is still some concern over what comes next. But Halon has wrote a letter to gamers on the studios website painting a picture of happiness and joy as to what’s coming next.
This is an incredible time for the studio. As Glen and Michael begin new chapters in their careers, I’m humbled by the opportunity to lead this amazing team of developers. Over the years, I’ve worn many hats here at the studio, which has allowed me to work side by side with some of the best talent in the business.
He thanks not only Michael and Glen for their support of him, but also, the fans of Call of Duty, for they are “our inspiration and motivation”. And promises to keep the team dedicated to making sure Call of Duty: WWII grows and improves even more.
This is very nice to hear, and it seems he’s settling into his role just fine. The question now is, what will be the first new video game under his guidance?
