Psyonix has introduced a new “Language Ban” system that aims to eradicate those who use offensive language in Rocket League. Whilst the list of words that have been banned isn’t being made public by developers, it is known to include racial slurs.
In a statement on the official website, it was outlined how the system would work: “Each word has its own threshold, and once a threshold for any word has been reached, that player will be automatically subject to a ban. These bans will typically start at 24 hours, then escalate to 72 hours, one week, and finally, a permanent ban.”
So it appears that there’s more tolerance for certain words than others, and that it will take a number of reports before bans can be handed out.
Rocket League, like many other games, isn’t without it’s fair share of abusers when it comes to the online chat aspect. Naturally, in a competitive environment frustrations run high and it leads to certain players lashing out in an unhealthy manner. After all, there’s a reason as to why Psyonix feels that they have to implement this particular ban system in the first place.
Rocket League is now available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
