Netflix Still A Possibility For Nintendo Switch
One of the biggest gaming trends recently has been the desire to make video game systems more than what they are. Meaning, most console publishers don’t just want their machines to be gaming systems, they want them to be more. The Xbox One tried to make their system an “all-in-one” box that people could control things with. The PS4 has multiple viewing services, including one solely made for itself. And as for Nintendo Switch…well…that’s actually a bit of a different story.
For while it does have Hulu on it, it’s still “missing” many services that fans want, like Netflix. Something that many fans of the system want. But will it come? Nintendo Of America President Reggie Fils-Aime talked about it with Fox Business and stated this:
“For those types of questions, we have to refer you to the folks at Netflix. What we said when we launched Nintendo Switch was that we wanted to have a gaming-first platform and that’s what we’ve created. And that’s what enabled us in the first 12 months in the United States to be the best-selling home console in the history of video games.
He went on to talk about the past and future of what could come to the Nintendo Switch:
“Right now, we enable Hulu on the platform, we’ve said that other services will come in due time. For us, we want to make sure that continue driving the install base for Nintendo Switch, continue to have great games for the platform. In terms of what’s next on the streaming side, you’re gonna have to talk to those individual providers in terms of where they stand and what they’re working on.”
There has been teases by Netflix that it could be coming to Switch soon, and yet these comments seem to backhand them. What is truth? Time will tell.
