Motive’s Jade Raymond Talks Star Wars Title

Star Wars hasn’t had the best of luck recently when it comes to big titles. For despite the sales success of Battlefront II last year, the game was mired in controversy, and it took until 2018 to resolve the issues. And if you want to go to the movie aspect of things, the Solo film greatly underperformed at the Box Office. So, you’d be ok with having hesitation regarding anything going on with the franchise. But in terms of games, there is one big title being made at Motive, owned by EA.

To be fair though, this is the latest attempt (keyword, attempt) at trying to make another big Star Wars title. For several other studios owned by EA were set to make one, then got canceled, shelved, or shut down entirely. But now, it’s Motive’s turn, and according to General Manager Jade Stevens, they have a lot to work with.

Star Wars Battlefront II

For she talked with Game Informer and told her just how much source material they had:

“I don’t know how much we’re saying about that stuff, but the goal is …we have three terabytes of Star Wars artwork, which is crazy, and there is a lot of really good work there,” Raymond concluded. “When we announced we were moving the game, the idea was pivoting more into player agency but still keeping a lot of the stuff that was great about it. There was a lot of really cool stuff like tons of assets and really cool characters that had been created. So, there’s the goal of making sure we use all that.”

Another thing she made clear during the interview was that the team at Motive is now filled with industry veterans. Including people who worked on games like SSX, Prototype, Sleeping Dogs, Need For Speed, and more.

The game itself is said to be an open-world Star Wars title, but other than that, we know nothing.
