Mortal Kombat 11 Character Being Revealed At C2E2
The hype for Mortal Kombat 11 continues to grow with every single character that gets announced for it. But, this weekend, at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, also known as C2E2, the team at NetherRealm Studios are going to take the stage at a panel and do some very special unveils for the fans there. This makes sense as NetherRealm is based in Chicago, and since the game is due out in April, and the show attracts around 100K in people, there’s a lot of potential to make a lot of impressions.
Anyway, on Twitter, NetherRealm Studios head Ed Boon teased a bit of what would be coming:
Join members of the Mortal Kombat 11 team at our C2E2 panel, Friday (12:45-1:45pm) ..
We got LOTS of stuff to show..
– Making of MK11
– New Fighter (w/ Game-Play trailer) announce!
– First DLC character announce!
– Behind the Scenes
– Story mode videos + more!
Now, as some have noted, it’s a bid odd that the first DLC character is being announced at C2E2. After all, they’ve admitted that the roster for the main game isn’t filled up yet, and they’re doing another announcement at the panel. So why do the DLC character reveal?
The biggest theory on this is because the first DLC character has a comic book origin. So why not reveal it at a major Comic-Con like C2E2? For months now, Spawn from Todd McFarlane has been circulating the internet as a rumor for being a DLC character.
This would definitely fit the mold of the reveal at a Comic-Con, but only time will tell.
In more recent news, two more characters were officially confirmed to be playable. From Mortal Kombat X, Kotal Kahn and Jackie Briggs will be fighting in Mortal Kombat XI. Ironically enough though, while the trailer was tagged as Kotal Kahn’s reveal, it was Jackie who got the most screentime in terms of attacks.
Either way, the game releases on April 23rd.
