Monster Hunter World Sold Over 600,000 Digital Copies In 3 Days In Japan Alone

Sometimes, a video game franchise just resonates with a country or region in such a way that it sells better there than anywhere else in the world. It’ll still release in other regions, but the developers know that to really make bank, it needs to be good for that region. Japan has been that for many franchises, and not just the ones you’d expect. A great example of this is Monster Hunter, for this is a franchise that has dominated Japan since it originally came out, and with its most recent release, Monster Hunter World, they did it again.

How so? Well, it’s already been documented that Monster Hunter World has shipped/sold around 5 million since its release less than a month ago, however, some new numbers out of Japan, from the newest issue of Famitsu magazine, states that 652,314 copies of the game were sold digitally in the first three days of release.

Now, while that stat alone is impressive, as it showed how many were willing to get just the digital copy of the game, the other impressive feat is that previous revealed data showed 1.35 million physical copies of Monster Hunter World being sold in the first three days of release. Which means, that in Japan alone, the game apparently sold 2 million, in just Japan. Yeah, that’s pretty impressive.

And again, that was just the first three days, imagine how much has sold there now. This also gives an insight into how fast the game sold and led to the 5 million being shipped around the world.

Capcom really went all out on this game, but they did so to not just please their Japanese fanbase, but to get more players from around the world, and they’re succeeding. The game was on the top of the charts for paid for games on Xbox, and the PS4 is doing similarly well, and being that Japan hasn’t bought 5 million on its own, that shows that the UK, US, and other countries are loving the title as well.
