MLB Pitcher Has Been Forced To Swear Off Fortnite During Baseball Season
When a game becomes a cultural phenomenon, you almost always find some weird stories that feature the game. Pokemon GO was certainly that, and now, Fortnite is becoming that phenomena, which is ironic given the slow start that the game had at the beginning of its life. Recently, we posted a story about how high school and college graduates were doing emote and victory dances from the title during their graduation ceremonies. But now, we got one that goes to one of the highest levels of sports, the MLB.
So, what happened? Well, this has to do with star pitcher David Price, who is honestly really good when he’s in the zone. The problem though is that he’s been accused of NOT being in the zone…because of Fortnite. Price has been honest that he loves the game, but he was recently scratched from a start because of “carpal tunnel” in his wrist. Though he thinks it’s because of something else, his team, and MLB, think it’s because of him playing Fortnite until all hours of the night.
Even Price’s doctor said that the condition couldn’t have been caused by the game. But…the Red Sox don’t care. And because of that, Price has sworn off playing the game during the baseball season. Which is ironic, because a lot of his teammates on the Red Sox playing the game too.
This story even got the attention of mainstream media, where a Boston Herald reporter tweeted this:
From Price: He does not believe video games contributed to his wrist problem. Sounds as if he will back off playing them some if that helps & find new hobby. Getting treatment, will sleep w wrist brace. He will pitch Saturday in Toronto. His bulllen today went very well.
I feel bad for you price, a person shouldn’t be forced away from a game they love to play.
