Microsoft Wants Japanese Publishers On Stage For Xbox E3 Presentation
We’re about six weeks away from E3 2018, one of the most important gaming weeks of the year, by far. For there, Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Ubisoft, Square Enix, EA, Bethesda, and more will take the stage (and the viewing screen) to reveal what’s coming up from then in the next few months or even into next year. There’s a lot of expectations for all who participate. For Microsoft though, there’s a lot of expectations on their side especially. The Xbox One X hasn’t done as well as they wanted, and fans are asking for more exclusive games.
Not only that, they want more JRPGs and various other Japanese titles, which the Xbox One has struggled with at times, and Microsoft has admitted that. Therefore, it should be some comfort that the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, noted on Twitter that the current plan for E3 2018 is to get some Japanese publishers on stage.
When asked about the show this year and having JRPGS he stated:
As of now, yes. Things can change but like last year I wanted to make sure we supported our Japanese publishers on our stage and this year we are working to do the same. It’s important to us.
He also gave a shoutout to another big publisher and one of their key franchises (Yakuza) and said he’d love to see them on Xbox:
Yep, Sega has a lot of good franchises that would be cool to see come over.
Now, Microsoft has tried to get some big titles from Japan on their system before, especially on the exclusive level. But the last one they tried to do was Scalebound, and then they canceled it, which almost forced developer Platinum Games to close. Not cool.
We’ll have to see who they bring to the stage this year.
