Microsoft Says That Xbox Is Having A “Record-Setting” Year Prior To E3
E3 2018 is about 5 weeks away, and with its arrival will come the chance for many major publishers and developers of video games to show gamers and potential business partners what they got. You could argue that of the Big 3, Microsoft is the one that needs to prove the most. Their Xbox One X launch didn’t set the world on fire, and we’re still waiting on some big 1st part exclusive titles, including the release date for Crackdown 3. Yet, according to Microsoft, they’re not worried, in fact, they’re praising the system.
For in a post on the Xbox website, they noted that the numbers of people playing their system and their services is at “record-setting” heights:
“Today, we’re witnessing a record-setting number of players, playing at record levels, and engaging in new ways. Xbox Live players are up 13 percent and Xbox One sales are up 15 percent over the same period last year, but that’s not all. We’ve seen more than 600,000 friendships forged with the Looking For Group feature and there are now more than 1.2 million Clubs on Xbox Live.”
Now, this is impressive for sure, as this proves that people are playing the system even though the system only really has old games or multiplatform titles. The team is also excited about the response to their new Game Pass service:
“It’s been incredible to see the growth in the service and the growth of engagement in franchises made available in Xbox Game Pass. We’re next looking forward to bringing State of Decay 2 to Xbox Game Pass members on May 22nd, the same day as its global release, as we continue to work to deliver the ultimate gaming membership for our fans.”
But is this enough though? Most gamers would say no, and that’s why E3 is going to be so important for the system.
