Metal Gear Survive Update Brings New Co-Op Mission
You could argue that Metal Gear Survive was doomed before it ever launched. As the first in the Metal Gear franchise since the very public firing of Hideo Kojima, there were going to be strong feelings about the new game, and when it was revealed to be something entirely different from what the franchise had been in the past, fans really rallied against it, and that’s shown in the sales since its launch in February. However, Konami is pushing on with updates, and have released a big one today.
As revealed on the Metal Gear Survive website, the update brings many new things into the game, including a brand new co-op mission for you to complete. Here’s the breakdown of it:
“The objective of Rescue Missions is to evacuate Charon Corps survivors who have gone missing after failing a Salvage Mission. Make use of the terrain as well as your Interceptor and Defense units to secure a safe escape route, while thwarting hoards of enemies.”
There’s also a new Rescue Mission Event going on right now called “The Captive Ferrymen”, which you can complete to earn special rewards as well as more BP to use in game.
Smaller updates within this include the ability to now customize your controller layout. There’s a new plan to the base camp dig, the wormhole digger score will be increased when you speed up the drill, new enhancement items for legendary weapons have been added as well.
And, of course, there are the standard bug fixes and balance updates.
While this will be welcome for those playing the game, we happen to know that those players are very small in number. In fact, the only country that seems to have liked the game is Japan, and even then, the numbers weren’t too impressive.
Hopefully Konami gets its act back together with this franchise soon.
