Let’s recap, shall we? The Metal Gear Solid franchise is one of the most respected video game series ever made. It was headlined by the video game legend Hideo Kojima, who poured everything he had into the game However, after Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Kojima was brutally fired from Konami, leaving many to wonder what would happen to the franchise. Much to their dismay, Konami decided to continue it and make Metal Gear Survive. Fans and critics weren’t impressed, and as time goes on, that reflects in the sales.
We’ve already reported that the game did terrible in the UK as well as on Steam, but now, we have further proof that Metal Gear Survive isn’t doing very well. For Amazon has the Xbox One and PS4 version of the game on sale right now for $20. Being as the game came out in late February, which was only six weeks ago, that’s not a good sign. As Amazon would never drop the price of a game that fast if it was selling well.
It’s not surprising to us that the game isn’t doing well, after all, from the moment the high concept of the game was revealed via trailer, we knew something was wrong. For instead of doing the stealth game genre like the Metal Gear Solid franchise is known for, Konami decided to focus on Horde mode battles and Tower Defense gameplay of sorts. Mixed with an open-world exploration that featured dimension travel, monsters that make no sense within the Metal Gear Universe, and so much more.
The few who have played the game admit it’s “ok”, but hardly worth the price of admission, and we are willing to bet that some would say that about the $20 price tag as well. The question now is, will Konami learn from its mistake?
